Redo Times is bringing the third edition of Feronia Fashion Night in association with Avantika University, Ujjain and It by It professionals, Jaipur. The fashion show will be held on 1st September 2019 at The Grand Bhagwati Palace, Indore. Feronia Fashion Night is an initiative to raise awareness on the very sensitive topic of gender equality and LBTQ inclusiveness. It is a first of its kind event that showcases Androgynous Fashion – A form of fashion that focuses on breaking the archaic gender stereotype. This is the only event in India that features all the models from the LGBTQ community providing the models a platform to showcase their talents and get further opportunities. The event will feature an exclusive collection from the legendary designer – Padma Shri Wendell Rodricks. A conferred Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters distinction holder from The Ministry of Culture and Communication of France, Wendell has also been bestowed the Rainbow Warrior Award by Kashish Film Festival for his work on LGBTQ rights. At Feronia Fashion Night Indore, he will present the collection titled – “The Rainbow Warriors”.
The Rainbow Warriors Collection is an explosive burst of colour on the ramp blending yellow, reds, blues, purples and pinks in vibrant tones and pairing the colours with fluid silk crepe, georgette, pleated crinkle and Lycra, together in fiercely sexy, sassy and uber – stylish silhouettes.
The designs of this collection feature Circle cut geometric forms, LGBTQ+ flag inspired colour blocking, hand crafted 3 dimensional pyramid structured sleeves as well as glamorously feminine ramp sweeping gowns. For the androgynous looks, the designer showcases lounge camp shirts in a delicious mix of satin and linen, gravity defying necklines, resort style jackets and gender fluid controlled volume dhoti pants and sarongs. Other styling highlights are out-turned seams that make for an interesting ruffle detail, ‘drop-stitch knit’ mesh like panels; While Crochet features in a modern style as chunky necklaces and patterned shoulder straps beautifully handcrafted by a young lady from the National Association of the Blind and other gifted Goan talent pooling their individual crafts and customizing each piece for this collection, truly adding that special Rainbow Warrior emotion with their special knitted touch.
The collection is a true testament to the 377 verdict victory for the LGBTQ+ community making it a befitting finale to the show that strives for LGBTQ equality in the society. In the words of the legendary Wendell Rodricks himself –
“We invite you to celebrate equality. We invite you to celebrate LOVE. We Invite you to celebrate Feronia Fashion Night”
