Though a devotional film, Maa Santoshi Maa has been designed as a musical family drama. When the film pitches it as a musical, one has good expectations from its music. More so, when the album comes packed with as many as eight original tracks. All the songs have been composed by Vishwajeet and the lyrics have been written by Abhilash. What is interesting is that some of the biggest names in the music industry have stepped forward to lend their voice to the multiple tracks in the film.
Talking about the album, music director Vishwajeet says, “I feel blessed that despite being a newcomer, the biggest singers in the country agreed to sing for me. Sonu Nigam did not even charge a fee for the song he has sung for the film. It is a Bidaai number and he has sung it so wonderfully. The other songs have been sung by veterans like Udit Narayan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sadhana Sargam, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Purnima, Roop Kumar Rathod and Alka Yagnik. The album has shaped up very well.”
All the eight tracks are rich in melody and have a strong devotional element to them.
Lyricist Abhilash comments, “All the songs are rich in poetry and the one thing common in all of them is that they are steeped in bhakti bhaav. The film is a tribute to Santoshi Maa and you will realise that just by listening to the songs. Every track has its own colour and is different from the other. This album will appeal to devotees of Santoshi Maa and to music buffs, in general. It is a commercial film and we have made the songs keeping that in mind but have not compromised on the purity and sanctity of the theme.”
The music of Maa Santoshi Maa plays an integral role in the film and helps in taking the story forward. As stated by the makers themselves, the music of the film is one of its biggest USPs.
