Sonu Nigam is, arguably, one of the finest voices in the country. He is also the most versatile singer having rendered songs of different genres and moods. He has sung in almost every Indian language and has delivered innumerable hits in the past three decades he has been active as a singer. Apart from film and non-film albums, the singer has several devotional songs to his credit. Nigam, himself, is a very spiritual person and is known to sing devotional songs without charging any remuneration. That is exactly what happened when he recorded for the film ‘Maa Santoshi Maa’.
“Sonu ji has recorded one song for the film called ‘Meri Bitiya Chali Sasural’. It is one of the most important songs in the film as it arrives at a crucial juncture. I personally feel it is the best song in the film as it is laced with emotions and adds a lot of value to the film. It is a highly evocative song in which you see the father (Alok Nath) being teary-eyed and singing for his daughter (Bhagyashree) as she gets ready to leave for her sasural”, says director Jatin Kumar.
He further states that getting Sonu Nigam on board to sing the track was no less than a blessing.
“Sonu ji has a divine voice and I feel fortunate that he agreed to bless our film by singing this track. Being a devotional and spiritual person himself, he did not charge a single penny to sing this song. We tried to persuade him to accept the fee but he simply refused. All of us were highly touched by his gesture.”
The music of Maa Santoshi Maa has been composed by Vishwajeet and the lyrics have been written by Abhilash. The album consists of eight original tracks.
