In a recent move the Indian Government has banned Chinese mobile applications, including top social media platforms such as WeChat, Helo and TikTok since it saw it as a threat to the country’s “sovereignty and security.” This was an immensely popular social media app in India with an estimated 120 million users as on June 2019 in the country. This totally indigenous app derives its name from Sanskrit where Raask refers to a form of entertainment.
