The team of the Punjabi romantic and emotionally driven film Ishqnama organised a grand press conference at Hotel The Lalit in New Delhi, where the media was given an exclusive glimpse of the film.
Inspired by a true love story, the film is set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan border between 1981 and 1988. The narrative revolves around Nimma, a Sikh poet from Indian Punjab, and Naseema, a Muslim girl from Pakistani Punjab. Their love story remains incomplete due to the pain of partition and the barriers created by borders.
The film stars Jai Randhawa and Shehnaaz Gill in lead roles. They were joined at the press conference by Saurabh Sachdeva and Anjum Batra.
Speaking at the event, Jai Randhawa said, “This film is a story of true love, and I am hopeful that Ishqnama will create history. Initially, the film will be released in Punjabi, and if audiences appreciate it, we plan to release it in other languages as well.”
He further added, “There could not have been a better place than Punjab for Ishqnama. This land has shaped me and given me my identity, for which I will always be grateful. The love I have received here over the years is beyond words. Having artists like Shehnaaz and Arvind in this film makes it even more special.”
Shehnaaz Gill shared that Ishqnama is not just a love story, but a tale of emotions that cannot be confined by borders.
During the interaction, the cast openly discussed the emotional depth of the film and the responsibility of portraying a true story on screen. A large number of media representatives attended the event and expressed excitement about the film.
Ishqnama is slated to release in cinemas on 24 July 2026.
