Narayan Health’s Founder and Chairman, Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardee Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, along with his team of senior doctors, was honoured for their commendable efforts in bringing a new ray of hope into the lives of children from Bihar suffering from thalassemia. The honour was presented on behalf of the people of Bihar at a special event held in Bengaluru.
During the programme, it was informed that 33 thalassemia-affected children from Bihar have successfully undergone bone marrow transplants, giving them relief from this serious disease. This achievement is being regarded as a significant milestone in the field of medical care.
The event also included discussions regarding more than 90 thalassemia-affected children from Bihar who have been found to have a 100% bone marrow match with their biological siblings. Detailed discussions were held with Dr. Shetty and his team on preparing a comprehensive and foolproof bone marrow transplant plan for these children.
During the programme, an important Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was also signed. Under this agreement, volunteers associated with Maa Vaishno Devi Seva Samiti and the Maa Blood Centre family, along with their family members, will be provided priority access to treatment, advanced medical facilities, specialist doctors and modern healthcare services.
Representing the Samiti family, the programme was attended by Shri Ramkrishna Kumar (Founder Member, Bablu Bhagat), Shri Rajkamal (Founder Member, Nintu Bhaiya), and Shri Suraj Bharti (Lifetime Member and a key contributor to the establishment of Maa Blood Centre).
This initiative will not only pave the way for a new life for children battling thalassemia but will also serve as an inspiring example of collaboration and the spirit of service in the field of healthcare.
