Commemorating the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak, the Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu released a coffee table book titled ‘Prominent Sikhs of India’ at a function with select gathering at his residence.
Written by the administrative officer of Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr Prabhleen Singh, the book highlights the lives of 50 contemporary distinguished Sikhs of India who have contributed significantly to the development of the nation and asserted the Sikh identity across the world in a very positive light.
Prominent names included well known industrialist, philanthropist & film presenter Dr Raju Chadha who has been leading efforts to promote Sikhism’s core values of common good to all.
Chadha’s brainchild- The International Punjab Forum, a non for profit organisation has been tirelessly engaging in social reforms and his efforts have been lauded all over the world, especially in the realm of Sikh wedding reforms, in accordance with Sikhism’s purist origins.
“I pledge to work towards the upliftment of society & selfless service to humanity till my last breath ,” said Dr Chadha at the function. Other prominent names featuring in the book included Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, environmentalist Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal and cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi.
